GO FEET! Radio #66 We Need Love and Peace ? 13 Jan 2010
We need love and peace, what more can I say. When disaster happens such as in Haiti right now it humbles me and I consider what I need to do to show more love and support to those around me. We all can’t be in Haiti right now helping those in need but we can help those around us, right where we are, where we live, where we work, where we walk. If we can not give to those in Haiti in their time of need lets try and give to those around us, a smile, a kind word, a batch of cookies perhaps ? just a thought ?
What I think is hideous is the amount of people who will try and make a quick buck out of someone elses misfortune. The amount of people who have set up bogus accounts asking for donations who do not intend to give it to those in Haiti sickens me. I’m not trying to sound ‘holier than thou’, I’m just venting a little, but I would warn those wanting to donate to only donate through a tried and trusted organization. I won’t suggest any here, you’ll find the right organization, just be careful where donating.
OK, enough from me. I’ll end with this quote I found by Mother Teresa: If you judge people you have no time to love them.
In this episode some ska, some reggae, some dub and some soul ? now listen up or go love the one you’re with!!

In this episode we bring to an end the interviews with Roger Steffens aka Ras Rojah (as Bob Marley used to call him). Take a listen to this interview along with the other two parts of this incredible three part series online at
http://www.musicaloccupation.com .
Allen did an awesome job of interviewing Roger then editing the interviews for our listening pleasure.
Much respect to Roger for his time and generosity, his support and kindness.

Additional Information:
MOTHER B. TAPE REEL ONE (1977)
This tape is one of two ten inch reels found by Cedella Booker, Bob Marley’s mother, also called Mother B in 1981. Not proper stored both tapes remained untouched until May 11th, 1989, the eighth anniversary of Bob Marley’s death. Then they were restored as best as possible to reveal two hours of music. The songs of Reel 1 were recorded in his bedroom at his mother’s house in Vista Lane, Miami ca. October 1977 with Bob Marley singing and playing acoustic guitar. The tapes were restored by Roger Steffens. Reel 1 seems to be from 1977. Reel 2 is recorded at Tuff Gong Studios during the sessions for Uprising in 1980. Until 2001 or later this tape was unavailable. Songs are Copyright 1990 Cedella Booker Marley.
01. Jailbreaker (16,07)
02. Place Of Peace (3,16)
03. Record A New Song (2,25)
04. We And Them (1,36)
This early recording shows that Bob Marley had this song written in 1977 but waited until 1980 to record it in a studio. Desi Smith confirmed that “We and Them” was written in 1977.
05. Vexation (0,47)
06. Jump Them Out Of Babylon (11,40)
MOTHER B. TAPE REEL TWO (1980)
This tape is one of two ten inch reels found by Cedella Booker, Bob Marley’s mother, also called Mother B in 1981. Not proper stored both tapes remained untouched until May 11th, 1989, the eighth anniversary of Bob Marley’s death. Then they were restored as best as possible to reveal two hours of music. The tapes were restored by Roger Steffens. Reel 2 is recorded at Tuff Gong Studios during the sessions for Uprising in 1980.
01. Untitled Instrumental (14,46) drumbox and bass
02. Untitled Instrumental (10,16) bass only
03. Pray For Me (3,38) Bossa-nova with Bob Marley on acoustic guitar and vocals and a second guitarist playing in Brazilian style, which makes it plausible to be recorded in March 1980 following Bob Marley’s journey to Brazil.
04. Slogans (4,14) drumbox and guitar instrumental
05. Slogans, Can’t Take Your Slogans No More (4,22) V1
06. Slogans (4,07) guitars, instrumental
07. Untitled Instrumental (4,14) guitars
08. Right On (19,22)
BOB MARLEY - THE LOST LEE PERRY ALBUM (ALTERNATE STORY)
01. Untitled Instrumental
02. Forward On
03. Natural Mystic (Horns Version)
04. Rainbow Country
05. I Know A Place We Can Carry On
06. Who Colt The Game
07. Untitled Instrumental (Version)
08. Forward On (Version)
09. Natural Mystic (Horns Version) )
10. Rainbow Country (Version)
11. I Know A Place We Can Carry On (Version)
12. Who Colt The Game (Version)
Gilly Dread, Marley´s personal chef (whatever that means) and owner of I-Kus recording studio tells, Bob attempted reconciliation with Lee Perry in the summer of 1975 and did some studio sessions over a period of three or four Sundays with lee Perry´s band, not with The Wailers to record six titles.
In line with the later listed six versions of the tracks these would have fit to a fine album of what we now know four songs and their versions. If one of the trade instrumentals is the one mentioned here is unknown. Finally we learn there would be one more vocal track of Bob Marley “Forward On” to look forward to. Maybe this tape isn´t lost, as all the other songs finally appeared. Let´s see if such an album ever will be released.

Hey my Rudies ... what's up? Got your dancing shoes on? I enjoyed bringing you this mix of reggae, ska and dub. I espcially enjoyed recieving the track 'Rude Boy Dreams' from Claudia Yap outta the UK this week so thought I'd start things rolling with that cover of Laurel Aitken's tune. I gotta get more of Laurel's music, my collection is lacking without the Boss Skinhead's music. RIP Laurel.
I get to spin you some cool fresh tunes I've downloaded *FREE off the internet and you get a sampling of new music from the Easy Star All Stars from their tribute to the Beatles called 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Dub Band. I wrote a review about this album for
www.niceup.org.nz that I'll post on here. All my opinions of course :
)
OK, so go ahead, take a listen to the podcast of the show (you can for up to 8 weeks then it self destructs!) and be sure to give me anyfeedback, tips, advice, compliments, requests, donations, a new car ... opps, thats going a bit too far ... but I'm serious about the feedback! Would ove to hear from you.
Ciao for now!

Cornerstone is a 7-piece reggae/roots group from Whaingaroa, Aotearoa. They have toured consistently since forming in 2001. They have also released 2 EP's and 2 full-length albums their most recent being 'Free Yourself' in June 2007.
With contemporary message orientated lyrics & catchy riffs, the Corners have been building a solid fan base and a reputation for creating a timeless vibe at their live shows. Fans are either working up a sweat dancing up a storm, or bugging out to the more chilled vibes. A typical live performance will showcase a variety of styles and moods from a rhythmic syncopated groove to a bass driven onslaught.
In the past the band have opened for Jamaican legends Toots and the Maytals, Michael Rose with Sly n Robbie in Noumea, Burning Spear, Lee Scratch Perry & the Mad Professor & Jimmy Cliff. Festivals played include SoundSplash, Alpine Unity, Kaikoura Roots, Rhythm & Vines, Destinations, Best of Reggae Noumea, World Expo Japan, Grey Lynn Park Festival, Phat Outdoors, Queenscliff, Byron Bay Bluesfest, Apollo Bay, Kuranda Reggaefest, the 95bFM Summer Series, One Love and the Parihaka Peace Festival.

Episode #002 - 22-10-08
This episode starts out with two Alton Ellis songs. Alton Ellis OD (born Alton Nehemiah Ellis) (September 1, 1938 - October 10, 2008) was a musician best known as one of the innovators of rocksteady music, and was often referred to as the "Godfather of Rocksteady". In 2006, he was inducted into the International Reggae And World Music Awards Hall Of Fame.
Ellis died on 10 October 2008 at Hammersmith Hospital, West London, of cancer. His death prompted a statement from Jamaica's Minister of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports, Olivia 'Babsy' Grange, who said "even as we mourn the great Alton Ellis, we must give thanks for his monumental contribution to the development of Jamaica's popular music".
