89FM Fundraising Project

Our success in the recent 89.0FM allocation was the result of years of government lobbying and some disappointments along the way. We have worked hard to achieve this positive outcome for our users and the wider community, but the project now requires substantial financial investment to make it a reality. Every dollar donated via givealittle.co.nz will go directly towards our project which will see a revamped Community Radio Hamilton launched and broadcasting across the Waikato on 89FM in July 2012.

Check out our current 89FM fundraising auctions!

Feature Album of the Week

The View Is Worth The Climb is the latest album from Tim Finn -  which continues to garner praise from fans and media; including the New Zealand Herald who gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars and cited it as “a terrific album.”  The album was produced by the Grammy Award winning Jacquire King (who has worked with Kings Of Leon, Tom Waits, and Cold War Kids) and was recorded over two weeks at Roundhead Studios in Auckland.

Christmas in the Carpark pix! - Posted On: Saturday, 3 December 2011

We had a fantastic time @ Christmas in the Carpark yesterday. Thanks to all the past and current broadcasters, sponsors, funders and staff who came along and helped us celebrate 20 years of Access Radio broadcasting in the Waikato. Highlights included great music, and the auctioning of a special bottle of wine signed by John Key. That marked the soft launch of our 89FM fundraising project. Thanks to you all for supporting Community Radio Hamilton !  Here's the pix [Facebook gallery]

89.0FM announcement - Posted On: Tuesday, 25 October 2011

We are delighted to announce that we have been successful in our application to use the local non-commercial 89.0FM frequency. It's a great privilege, a very important step for Community Access broadcasting in our region, and concludes several years of lobbying for such an opportunity.

We offer support to our colleagues at Contact FM who also worked hard to secure this licence, and look forward to many years of strengthened and vibrant non-commercial radio in the region.
